From St. Paul, Minnesota and front man for the group the Melismatics, Ryan Smith is an incredibly talented Artist/Songwriter and performer. His EP CD release entitled "Turn It On" hit radio #10 on the CMJ Top 20 most added for the week of 08-22-05! Played on over 270 radio stations in 47 states and Canada.
Ryan and The Melismatics enhanced CD release entitled "New Infection" landed #18 on the Top 20 most added on the CMJ Radio Charts 09-16-03. Check out the new CD Cover and go here to read alive show review of their CD Release party.
The Melismatics prior CD, entitled postmodern rock is also an enhanced CD, computer enhanced by Chino and contains their video "Can't Relate" along with photos, song lyrics and info on the band.
Receiving radio air play in 38 states "Postmodern Rock" spent over 9 weeks on the CMJ Top 200 College radio charts, peaking at #55! It has been in rotation on 168 radio stations and for the week of 11-13-01 the Melismatics landed the #8 add spot in the CMJ radio Top 20 add's list. Promoted by Tinderbox Music out of Minneapolis, MN.
In addition the Melismatics were selected to appear in Austin, TX by SXSW at the Melagio Club in this world famous week long showcase. Read this CD review posted July 2002 on LMNOP.
The Melismatics were also chosen to showcase at the 3rd annual Midwest Music Conference and Film Festival, which took place in August in Lexington, KY. At this Conference they did an interview for XM Radio's unsigned channel and their song "Can't Relate", was chosen for the Conference compilitation CD. Having written over 100 songs already and 3 prior CD releases, Ryan Smith is a very prolific Songwriter in addition to recently appearing in an Independent film called "Now Hiring", which also features 8 of Ryan's songs on the soundtrack. We are proud to represent his music here at Iowa HomeGrown Music, BMI. Ryan is currently being presented to the Record Labels in New York and LA by 8 time Grammy award winning Engineer/Producer Bil VornDick
